Sailboat & Rigging Survey for St. Petersburg vessels

Great River & Lakes – Marine Surveying Co. works with sailboat buyers and owners assessing a vessel and its accessible rig in St. Petersburg and nearby Tampa Bay boating communities. Our St. Petersburg office serves vessels around the downtown waterfront, Tampa Bay and nearby Gulf access. The assignment scope depends on the vessel, the requested report and safe access on inspection day.

What the inspection addresses

We examine accessible hull and deck areas, keel and rudder where visible, auxiliary machinery, chainplates and deck-level rigging. Aloft rigging and concealed fittings require a separate specialist or access arrangement. Our written report records observations and recommendations appropriate to the assignment. We explain limitations when compartments or equipment are inaccessible; specialized diagnostics, oil analysis and destructive testing require a separately agreed scope.

Planning in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Municipal Marina and the surrounding waterfront illustrate the mix of marina and private-dock assignments. Confirm boarding access and yard availability with the operator. A vessel at a private dock may need different access arrangements than one at a yard. If a haul-out, sea trial or specialist is needed, identify that before choosing an inspection date. The yard controls its lift schedule and fees.

Information to send

Tell us the mast configuration, age of standing rigging, grounding history, haul-out plans and whether an aloft rigger will attend. Include the boat’s exact location, access contact and desired inspection date. If an insurer, lender, broker or purchase agreement imposes a deadline, send that date and any written requirements with your request.

Report and next steps

We confirm the inspection scope and availability before booking. Findings are based on conditions observable during the agreed inspection, with any access limits identified in the report. Haul-out, yard, specialist and laboratory charges are separate unless your quote expressly includes them.

Common question

Is an aloft inspection included? A deck-level survey cannot establish upper rig condition. Arrange a qualified rigger if an aloft assessment is needed.
