Out-of-Water and Haul-Out Boat Surveys in the Clear Lake Area and Galveston
Complete Hull and Bottom Inspection

Many vessel conditions cannot be properly evaluated while a boat is in the water. Great River & Lakes Marine Surveying provides out-of-water and haul-out boat surveys throughout Kemah, Clear Lake, Seabrook, League City, Webster, and Galveston. These inspections allow full access to the hull, running gear, and underwater structure for a comprehensive evaluation.

When an Out-of-Water Survey Is Needed

Out-of-water surveys are typically required for pre-purchase inspections, insurance renewals on older vessels, damage assessments, and condition evaluations where a bottom inspection is necessary. Buyers, insurers, and lenders often request haul-out inspections to verify hull integrity and detect hidden defects below the waterline.

What the Haul-Out Survey Includes

Once the vessel is lifted by a travel lift or crane, the survey includes hull inspection, bottom examination, moisture testing, thru-hulls and seacocks evaluation, propeller and shaft inspection, rudder and steering gear assessment, trim tabs, transducers, and hull appendages. This level of access allows identification of blistering, delamination, impact damage, corrosion, and structural concerns that cannot be seen in-water.

Coordination With Local Marinas

Out-of-water surveys require coordination with local boatyards and marinas. We work directly with haul-out facilities in Kemah, Clear Lake, Seabrook, and Galveston to schedule lifting, blocking, and inspection efficiently. Haul-out fees charged by the facility are separate from survey fees, but scheduling is managed for you.

Who Needs a Haul-Out Survey

Boat buyers, insurance underwriters, and lenders frequently require out-of-water inspections on vessels of certain age, construction type, or value. Owners also request haul-out surveys for preventative maintenance planning and long-term vessel care.

Survey Report and Documentation

Each out-of-water survey includes a detailed digital report with photographs, findings, and recommendations. Reports are delivered promptly and are suitable for buyers, insurers, lenders, or maintenance planning.

Local Scheduling and Availability

Most haul-out surveys in the Clear Lake area and Galveston can be scheduled within a few days, depending on marina lift availability. Local presence allows fast response and flexible coordination.
